Poverty Simulation
Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you’ve experienced poverty, it’s difficult to truly understand.
The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) bridges that gap from misconception to unders-tanding. CAPS is an interactive immersion experience. It sensitizes community participants to the realities of poverty.

Trauma Training
Organizations and programs will equip their staff and volunteers with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to effectively serve individuals with a history of
adverse personal and community experiences. This curriculum highlights trauma resiliency factors and asset-based thinking.

Understanding Socio-Economic Differences in Children
Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you’ve experienced poverty, it’s difficult to truly understand.
Participants will learn skills and knowledge to effectively serve children living in economically disadvantaged communities.

Diversity 101
This session explores unconscious bias and discusses what it is and how we address it in our everyday lives and in our workplaces.
Participants leave with an appreciation for the benefits of working with people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
(Prerequisite for 202 - Equity & Inclusion and 303 – Miseducation leads to Misunderstanding)

Mentorship Training
This interactive curriculum provides participants with an introduction to mentoring and what to expect as a mentor.
Topics like the "mentoring lifecycle," communication skills, establishing boundaries, and appreciating diversity make it easier for new volunteers to the field of mentoring and to refresh current mentors on best practices.
